News
The Women's Martial Arts Alliance would like to thank all of our supporters who participated in our Susan G. Komen breast cancer fundraiser.   Because of your generous donations we will continue to make tremendous progress toward eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease through research, education, screening and treatment. The generosity of donors is vital in order to continue efforts to help breast cancer patients today, as well as to invest in the health of future generations.

To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people,
ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

CO-FOUNDER PEGGY JENSEN RECEIVES HER BLACK BELT IN SHOREI GOJU KARATE

We recently promoted Peggy Jensen to Shodan, First Degree Black Belt, in a private ceremony on April 6, 2008.  This was a well earned accomplishment of Peggy who persevered, trained hard and kept her eye on the goal.

He
r beautifully embroidered belt was presented to her her along with an extra belt to be placed with her father who had passed away a few years ago.  It was a long journey to her black belt and now she is ready to start a new one, motivating and helping others who might, as she has, encounter bigger bumps in the road than expected.  These bumps in the road will make us stronger.  Together we can help each other reach for our dreams.

Safe Empowerment Michelle De La Rosa, co-founding member of the Women's Martial Arts Alliance (WMAA) tells us that, "one in every five women will be attacked or raped in their lifetime." De La Rosa, a 3rd degree black belt herself, is passionate about empowering women with the skills they need to defend themselves because, "women have a 50% better chance of an attacker fleeing if they choose not to be a victim and fight back!"

De La Rosa and three other martial arts pros, banded together and created the WMAA to educate and provide the average woman/girl with enough knowledge to reasonably expect to defend themselves against the most common types of attacks.
